Split a PDF Without Uploading It Anywhere

Customer drawing packs usually arrive as one big PDF — twenty sheets covering an entire assembly, when the vendor machining bracket item 7 only needs sheet 12. Uploading that pack to a random online splitter is exactly the kind of NDA violation quality auditors ask about. This tool splits and extracts pages entirely inside your browser: the file is read locally, pages are copied locally, and the output downloads locally. Nothing crosses the network, so controlled drawings stay controlled.

Two ways to split

Extract range pulls the pages you specify into one new PDF. The range field accepts the usual drawing-office shorthand — 1-3,5,8-10 — so you can grab a title sheet plus the two detail sheets a supplier actually needs. Split all pages saves every page as its own single-page PDF, which is handy when each sheet of a pack goes to a different vendor or gets filed under a different part number. For packs over 30 pages, use Extract range instead — firing dozens of downloads at once helps nobody.

How to extract pages

  1. Drop your PDF onto the zone above (or click to browse). The tool reports the page count once it loads.
  2. Pick Extract range and type the pages you want (e.g. 1-3,5), or pick Split all pages.
  3. Click Split PDF. Extracted ranges download as <name>-extract.pdf; split-all saves one file per page.

Why this matters on the shop floor

Sending a vendor the whole assembly pack when they quote one child part leaks pricing structure, related part numbers and sometimes the end customer's identity. Extracting just their sheet is basic NDA hygiene — and it keeps RFQ email threads light enough to actually open on a phone in the machine shop. The same applies to FAI submissions: your SQE wants the ballooned sheet for the part under review, not the whole pack. If you are assembling the characteristic report itself, the AS9102 Form 3 builder generates it, and the Merge PDF tool stitches the final pack back together.
